hi

i have a mx nh600 and i have some albums on it with secret songs, (untitled songs that actually appear on the same track as the last titled song on the album but only play after a large gap of silence)

every time i try to put a track mark at the start of the song, so i dont have to listen to the 5 or 10 minutes of silence i get the "trkfrom pc, NO EDIT" message.

DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO GET AROUND THIS?

even if some-one knows a media player where i can (easily) put in track marks, so i can transfer the tracks to sonic stage for recording, i would be happy

also does anyone know why this is there?

I know you can't copy a track back to a pc if its not the one you recorded it from, but why cant you edit it?

Hello,

there is no way to edit a downloaded track on the unit - it would give you the opportiunity to apply insignificant changes to it, and thus change it to become a "new" track which could then be uploaded again to Sonic Stage. This would tamper Sony's DRM scheme and is not allowed therefore.

To solve your problem, you can record your CD digitally through the optical line-in, if you have either a CD-player or computer with digital optical line out available (in real time only, of course). The tracks you get on the MD this way, can then be edited and so you can simly cut out the parts of digital silence.

Alternatively, you may rip your CD to .WAV (with db poweramp for example) and edit the tracks in question with an audio editor like Audacity. The resulting .WAV-tracks can then be imported to Sonic Stage and transferred to your MD.

Cheers - Killroy.
