Hello Everybody,

I'm looking for a Sony MD recorder for a friend that records her college lectures. There's so much information on the internet that it's confusing!

The features that I want for her are the SONY brand, and ideally, an included microphone. Also a recharger. If the best way were to be to buy a separate microphone, then If you would kindly direct me then I would, of course, appreciate that as well.

Currently she is using one of my 4 recorders ( a SONY 900) but since I only have one recharger it's kind of a pain for her to periodically bring it to work for a charge-up. Since all my MD's are gifts from another friend, I can't just give it to her. So I'm looking for the MD recorder that will do the job for her.

Any assistance will be most welcome - Thank you all in advance.

Sincerely,

phil

To upload the lectures to a computer, get MZ-RH910, the cheapest easily available Hi-MD.

Like this, charger included:

(You might want to get a higher-capacity rechargeable battery, NH14WM, to swap back and forth.)

You'll need a mic for that, as with any new portable MD. Lectures should come through fine with this:

though it's probably mono and might also pick up the whir of the machine.

Look at www.soundprofessionals.com for affordable mics. Just remember that if you get one of those T-shaped mics that plugs into the jack and sits on the machine, it's going to pick up machine noise--a mic on a cord is better.

Don't care about uploading? Get a used MD on eBay.

MZ-R700 and MZ-N707 both take regular AA batteries, no charger needed. You're familiar with MZ-R900.

Make sure the picture is clear and it's not worn-looking--look for wear around the buttons and click wheel. And check the feedback, of course.
