bachaka61
Hello,I've had my Minidisc player since 2002... That makes it 3 years now....Anyway, it was working perfectly, till last week. I was transfering some tracks to my MD using RealOne player, and finished. Everything looked perfect. When I was in the bus, I pressed "play", and I could'nt hear anything, and the time elapsed would stop at 5 seconds. Then I was like "What the...?" ... I recorded like 22 tracks on the MD... Then I press "stop" then the MD shuts off...A minute later I press "play" and it shows "BLANK". I could'nt believe it... Anyway... I tried another previously recorded MD and it worked perfectly along with others.Back home, I recorded another blank MD using RealOne player... Everything looked ok, but when I pressed play, nothing worked, and the MD went BLANK afterwards.I don't understand. Can someone help? My MD reads minidiscs well, but it does'nt work when I try to record....What should I do?
Ishiyoshi
Welcome to MDCF!What's the model # of your MD unit? From your description, it seems that your unit's optical block has expired. You basically have two options hereafter: send it to your local Sony Service Center or acquire a new recorder. Ishiyoshi
My model is a gold MZ-N505 ... Why has my optical block expired? The optical block of early NetMD units are known to be susceptible to "wear-and-tear" so to speak. I believe your unit experienced the same fate.*thread moved to its appropriate section of the forum
bachaka61
So why is it still playing MDs but it's not recording them then? Do you think it's the PC who has a problem, and not the MD?

Please read this thread for further details.
