darkmatter396
Just recently I decided to clean out my computer and reinstall windows. I have had no issues with openmg before this event. I was actually quite pleased with the capabilities of the minidisc player. Now I installed the same version of openmg and the minidisc player no longer works. I have also tried another minidisc player of my friends on my system and it does the same thing. It will begin writing for approximately 5 seconds and then stop. I can transfer one song to either unit within that time frame but when i go back to play it it will play but with no sound. After the unit is stopped and played again it says the disc is blank. Is there an issue i may be missing??? I have all the latest windows xp updates. My computer is an athlon 3200+ 64bit with 1 gb ddr ram. I couldnt see it being my system bogging it down. I own the mz-n505. It's an older unit but hasn't seen to much action to make it quit working. Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thanksdarkmatter

darkmatter396
everything appears to be working now i tried installing FFDSHOW and then unchecked all the audio codecs and now it is writing. Is there any explanation to why this all of a sudden would work now???
darkmatter396
STILL DOESN'T WORKI have tried reinstalling windows and I've tried on an MZ-NE410 and my MZ-N505. I made sure not to install the openmg software and just to start right out with the sonic stage. I don't have any audio codecs. I've tried converting mp3's to different formats to then try to put them on which also doesn't work. On my mz n505 it will transfer them but when i go to play back the disc comes up blank. On the mz ne410 it will not even transfer and say it could not transfer the song. Is there any suggestions on anything else I could do? A440
Did you do a full uninstall of OpenMG according to this? http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=8071Even with reinstalled Windows, unless you reformatted the entire system there may still be OpenMG junk in there. FFDShow has been known to fight with some versions of SonicStage, so make sure that is completely uninstalled as well. The blank discs on the 505 are worrisome, though. It may mean the unit itself is wearing out. For a test, don't start with your existing mp3 files. Once you get SonicStage 3.3 installed, also install Simple Burner (from Downloads). Then insert a CD, open Simple Burner and see if you can transfer from the CD to your MD and your borrowed MD. That eliminates the possibility of problems with your mp3 files and tells you if the transfer function is working.
darkmatter396
I'm thinking it's the unit wearing out. I did do a complete reformat and made sure everything was gone from the ffdshow. I also tried to use the simple burner. I think it's just time to upgrade. I was thinking about getting the RH-10 due to its awesome display and the recording feature. Any other units anyone suggests?
