RH10 Recording Errors

Hi All,

When I use my RH10 to voice record via a plug in mic, it records fine, yet when it comes time to playback or transfer via SS the screen says 'Disk format error, cannot record or play' and consequently the disc is wrecked and no longer works. (I've tried this with a few discs of different capacity and bands - in case it was a disc problem - yet it's done it each time.

The thing is that it does it randomly, yet about 1 in 3 recordings do this and hence, I'm talking to myself about the same stuff over and over again and then trying to transfer to SS straight away before starting a new 'group' so as not to waste my time should the disc be wrecked!

Has anyone else had this problem? Or perhaps have some advise? Also, where's the cheapest place to buy a new unit - i bought this one from ebay a couple of months ago.

Thanks - Ryan

Is is possible that SonicStage is the problem and not the unit? Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling SS 3.3?

Also, if SonicStage is working, sometimes it can reformat a disc that the unit itself can't read. So you might be able to reuse those discs, though not rescue what was on them.

If replacement is in the cards, unless you're really smitten with the RH10 you could always get one of the incredibly inexpensive first-generations from minidisc canada. My NHF800 has been working steadily for more than a year.
