mascis_
Seeing as to how the HD5 is a HDD player and not flash base(i heard flash players or thumb drives should never be defragged..true?), would it be safe to defrag the HD5 once in a while? Has anyone tried it?

Has anyone tried it?←There is no need to defragment the Hard disk of HD5 because everything in order in Hd5.If you try to defragment IT, WINDOWs will say no need for degragmentation. 0 Dinko
I can't comment directly about the HD5, but the people over at the Gigabeat forums claim that defragmenting the Gigabeat improves its performance. Based on that, I tried defragmenting a 40GB RCA Lyra, but it took so long that I just abandoned after 6% completed defragmentation. If all DAPs take that long to defragment, then I don't know if it's worth the trouble of even trying.
0 KJ_Palmer
This question has been asked on another forum, and appretnly some people have succesfully defragmented their HD5 drives, and it was worth doing it. I've tried it once myself and was informed by the system that there was no need to degfragment it...
0 ncl
For something thats a bit faster than the windows defrager i suggest using diskeeper professional or the like - i've used in on my hd5 from time to time without any problems and without taking up huge amounts of time.
