owen
I need help / advice as I have a MD that will not eject. It sounds as if the disc is being constantly driven (until I unplug the mains) and pressing buttons on either the remote or the unit has no effect. It's a Sony ZS-M7 (remember them ?) with a MD auto loading mechanism. Does anyone know how to force an eject of the stuck disc (manually or electonically)? I've managed to get the casing apart, but can't immediately see a mechanical release on the auto loading mechanism - and don't want to tamper with it without advice or a service manual.I'd be grateful for guidance on how to get the MD out. ......and my apologies if I've posted this in the wrong place
bobt
What happems if you take out all power, then reapply power and try to eject?Good luck,Bob

Unfortunately when the power is restored the disc begins to spin and still refuses to eject - it would appear that the unit is trying to read the MD immediately power is turned on, and then remains in that state rather than timing out after failing to read TOC successfully.Owen
bobt
Is there a possibility the disc was put in backwards or something?? Actually sounds like the shutter mught be hanging up, can you reach in with tweezers or a long skinny screwdiver and assist it??Again, good luck,Bob

Actually sounds like the shutter mught be hanging up, can you reach in with tweezers or a long skinny screwdiver and assist it??Again, good luck,BobThanks for your continued suggestions, Bob.Having taken the ZS-M7 casing apart, I can see the shutter is clear (and moves correctly) and that the disc is in the correct orientation (going on location of write protect slide) and from the motor noise it sounds as if the disc is spinning constantly. There is a small circular hole on the righthand side of the shutter, but inserting an unfolded paperclip doesn't trigger the auto loading mechanism to eject the MD (do you know if it should?) and although I can get a screwdriver into the slot I'm not sure how to encourage the mechanism to release the MD from the motor. Is there a mechanical release that I need to press inside the slot?CheersOwen
bobt
Have you tried cycling the player through all the commands ( play FF Rew, pause and stop) a few times,May have a play command that isn't being released to stop the motor and let the disc out.Back to the shitter issue, I had a shutter dislocate on my 707 and had to remove the cover to relocate the shutter. I would try the command shuffles a few times. Are you actually getting audio out of the unit while you are trying to eject?I've also had the paper label come off tapes and hang them up.If none of these work you may have to try a repudable repair shop, any Sony centres in your area??Merry Christmas,Bob
