Has anyone ever used the Sony ECM-DS70P for a live concert before ? Do you need a bass roll off, or possibly the Radio Shack Volume Att. ?

Anyone know of a great single point mic ?

Just interested in everyone's opinion. I used some mic's from sound professional's before to record Interpol & Bright Eyes. They worked awesome, but I want a simple single point mic, I didn't like going thru the whole setup and having wires running everywhere...

Thanks for the responses guys !!

You don't need bass rolloff because the DS70P has no bass: its range is 100-15000 Hz. It's also bigger than you think it's going to be, if stealth is one of your considerations.

Why not try this:

which is probably the same as your other SoundPros mic in a one-point arrangement, and cheaper than the DS70P. Frequency response: 20-20,000 Hz, and you'd probably want to use it with an attenuator (mic-in) or a battery module (line-in) if you're recording anything amplified.

The DS70P's advantage, is some situations, is that it's directional--it's supposed to record primarily what's in front of it instead of all around. But I think you would find it sounded tinny after a full-spectrum (20-20000 Hz) mic.
