shuffle problem

I have a problem with shuffle; i have an nh 9oo; when i chose to play by artist i can shuffle tracks by setting shuffle and the tracks shuffle only within that artists tracks;

i also have a rh 10; when i chose artist i get the tracks up; when i shuffle those the machine shuffles across all the tracks on the md; not just those within the artist chosen;

i have tweaked the european rh 10 as per to give me greater volume and the graphic equaliser;

any ideas why i cant shuffle within the artist setting?
