shaggydali
I use a Sony MZR900 for recording interviews, notes e.t.c. How easy would it be to record a good quality conversation through an internal wall? What kind of mic and recording settings would I need to use to get a clear recording, I have tried standard mic's and auto settings but conversations are bareley audible. A440
How badly do you want it? Check out the contact microphone and amplifier about halfway down this page. Only $299. http://www.thespystore.com/microphones.htm...52-C4AB29A91B63Basically you're looking for a contact mic that attaches to the wall and picks up vibrations from it. And I definitely don't want to know what you're planning to use it for.... Edited February 5, 2006 by A440
raintheory
I picked up a set of pretty decent quality contact microphones off of eBay just recently for $20. They work great for recording through walls/doors etc. I haven't had to use any amplifier either. Although I did need a cable adapter, as the ends were RCA. Much cheaper than $299, so might be worth trying out. Heres a link to another listing for the same contact mic's on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/2-PIEZO-CONTACT-MICS-P...1QQcmdZViewItem Edited February 5, 2006 by raintheory
shaggydali
If I used a contact microphone would I have to adjust the recording settings or would auto be OK. I haven't really explored my minidisc that much but am aware that is much better than I first assumed.
raintheory
You could probably use the automatic setting, however I never use it and wouldn't really recommend it. Manual would probably be best so you could boost the signal more if you want.
