Problem after upgrading to SonicStage 3.3

Question

I find myself in a very depressing scenario after upgrading to SonicStage 3.3

The upgrade seemed to go flawlessly and I could still play all the tracks in my library on the laptop.

However, I have just imported a CD received for Christmas and am told that I will have to reformat my NW-HD1 to synchronise the new tracks. I'm afraid that if I do this then I will lose all the current music from it.

Any ideas on how I can resolve this without losing any music / having to feed in about a million CDs all over again.

The full error message is as follows:

SonicStage (00000452-9094)

The connected ATRAC Audio Device cannot be used with the currently installed SonicStage. To use with the currently installed SonicStage, you must delete all tracks in the ATRAC Audio Device or initialize the hard disk of tha ATRAC Audio Device.

(Error Code: 000066a3)

May I ask why you upgraded to SonicStage 3.3? If the previous version worked alright then it seems a bit pointless. If you want to avoid formatting your HD1, I suggest re-installing an eariler version of SonicStage, possibly reverting to the previous one. To do this you will have to completely un-install SonicStage 3.3 and all of its components and then re-install the old version. If you havent got this on disk, then it can probably be downloaded on the internet. Hope this helps.

Im guessing you had SS 2.x before you upgraded? I went from 3.2 to 3.3 and didnt have to do anything. Anyway if all your tracks are in SS on the PC? all you need to do is transfer them back to the PC then format the player then re transfer back to the HD. Im guessing but I think you have to reset the unit because SS 3.x organises the tracks slightly differently than 2.x.

Incedentally, I have formatted my player player without transfering anything back first & SS has automatically done it anyway. Stick with it though, 3.3 is the best version yet! once your sorted you will see.

Hi there! Thanks for the welcome! I have had a flick through the files on the HD5 and i appear to have mp3 files and ATRAC3plus and ATRAC files on there. I uninstalled SonicStage 3.3 and reinstalled 3.1 which came with the device but it is now saying - The commected ATRAC Audio Device must be initialized to be used with the currently installed SonicStage- This time i do not have th error message number appearing though. :( Any thoughts?
