bertawicks
hey everyone, I'm kind of new to the minidisc community and hobby. I've used my minidisc player, a sony mz-rh10 several times using one mic and it sounds pretty good. Anyways I bought another mic and a splitter from radio shack and when i use the splitter and two mics the sound only registers in one side. I called the Sony guy and he told me that I can only use one mic for that one but there are minidisc recorders that have two mic inputs...does anyone know where I can find one of those. Your help would be GREATLY apppreciated...
raintheory
I don't know of any recorders that have 2 mic inputs. Your best bet would be to get a set of stereo (binaural) microphones, something like these http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cgi-bin/gold/item/SP-BMC-2 . A440
Your splitter must have a mono output plug. See if it has two rings around the plug (like your stereo headphone plug or the plug shown in my avatar--->) or one (mono). Just one, right? No problem: Radio Shack should have a mono-to-stereo adapter. Get a mono-to-stereo cord rather than just another plug so that you're not putting too much leverage pressure on your mic jack. Or, as suggested, just get a stereo pair of mics. By the way, the Sony guy was hallucinating. Minidisc recorders have either just a line input (white) or two inputs: a mic input (red) and a line input (white). But you can only use one at a time.
