SonicStage 3.0 Question

 I am running Sonic Stage 3.0. I converted all my music files to atrac3 @105kbps. I want to reconvert them to a higher bit rate....but since I have already converted them to a lower codec....I can't change the setting. Is there a way to do this without deleting all your CD's and re-importing them to the software?? Sony says you can't select a higher bit rate than the file you are trying to convert or reconvert in my case. Any help is greatly appreciated. This is my first go at the mp3 thing....not sure I like it or not. The software that Sony supplies is so restricted. Anyway, thanks for your help.

Del,

Welcome to "AtracLife",

As you have already imported your cd `s in Atrac@105kpbs so conveting it into higher bit rate or so is not going to improve the sound quality in any way..You have only one way now .You will have to delete all the songs that you don`t want in 105kpbs & again reimport them in higher bitrate using Sonic Stage .

Also Upgrade your SSver3.0 to SSver3.3

Thanks Stuge.......

Not sure if this makes a difference or not.........I imported all my CD's at 256 Atrac3+. I converted them for transfer to the device. Sony claims that the original recording remains on the harddrive and that when you convert the files there is another temp folder created. But like we have discussed, once you convert to a lower bitrate...apparently you can't change that. However, you can go back and transfer the orignal recording....but I converted for the sake of quantity vs quality. Thanks for the info Stuge

You should actually have two versions of these songs on your HDD. The converted files (105kbps) should be in a folder called "Optimized Files". I don't know of any really easy way to get rid of these files but I would recommend to remove all your music from SonicStage (Do not delete from HDD). Then delete all the music in the Optimized File folder. Then Re-import the original files. File>Import>Scan Folder go into settings and select the folder where the original files were imported.

There might be an easier way to do this but if there is I don't know what it is.
