vxla
My budget isn't huge, and I'd rather not spend money on the newest, best thing out there. If you had $250 or so and needed a player/recorder, which would you get? I'd love to go Hi if the sound quality is really that much better, but in the end, I just need upload/download via USB and the ability to export that stuff as .wavThanks! eriktous
If you need both upload and download then you have no other possibility than to go with Hi-MD. Net-MD doesn't allow uploading your recordings to your computer through USB.
A440
You don't even need to spend $250. Do you want to record (like through a microphone or line-in)? Or do you just want to play music tracks that are on your computer as Mp3 (or can be ripped from CDs)? The cheapest downloader (playback only--music transferred by USB) is the MZ-NH600D. You can probably find one on Ebay for under $100. The cheapest Hi-MD recorder with a mic jack is the MZ-NH700. I've seen new ones on Ebay lately for $125. You'd have a buy a mic, too--no built-in mics on Hi-MD units. For $229 you can get the top of the line RH10, with the much-loved lightup OLED display. http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.process?Product=4029517Or $199 for the RH910, the same unit without the display:http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.process?Product=4029518Don't bother with NetMD. Hi-MD puts more on a disc, allows you to upload recordings, offers better quality and is less than 3 years old.

Do you know if the 910 is more durable than the 10?Also, is input volume still controllable like on the MZ-N1 and MZ-N707? I never rely on automatic volume control for input; I find that "12" out of "30" is usually the best setting Thanks again!- eric
A440
Same manual control for volume (going through the same bunch of menus). Someone else will have to tell you about durability--I've got the NHF800 myself.
