My Sonicstage doesn't display Japanese

I use Sonicstage 3.4(US) and I read the thread that would allow Sonicstage to display Japanese characters. I did the registry edit and set non-unicode language to Japanese, but it's not working. When I import Japanese titled tracks, they come out to be ???, but when I try to type in the track names in Japanese, I get weird characters instead of ???. When I put the cursor over the edited track name I can see that in the popup the track name is entered in Japanese, but it's not displayed. Can anyone point out to me what is going on? It'd make me very happy if I can get this to work.

I'm confused. Do I need to set uni-code language to Japanese AND run Sonicstage with AppLocale? When I run Sonicstage, it gives me a message that my system can already accomodate the target applcation in Japanese. What now?

Let's do this again: Ensure you have follow the steps I have outlined within the guide in the preceding posts to the letter.

  1. apply the registry edit and confirm they are applied accordingly
  2. run SonicStage 3.4 with Microsoft AppLocale (Language of the application - set as Japanese)

Note: you do not need to set your "Regional and Language Options" to unicode settings because SonicStage 3.4 does not support unicode modification this way. Thus, the need to run SonicStage 3.4 EN with Microsoft AppLocale.

Ah, it works now. It's inconvenient to have to switch every time I use Sonicstage (because I normally set Regional setting to Japanese for Japanese programs), but it works. I wonder if there's a way to use Japanese version of Sonicstage on my version of Windows XP. I've tried to install it, but it won't let me.

Yes, you will need to edit the installer's configuration settings for it to work on your WinXP EN. For your convenience, I've edited the installer for your convenience --> [attachmentid=1509]
