Hi im new here and english is not my language so im sorry for the mistakes :)

I want to buy a minidisc and im a little lost with all the models available..

The MD i have now is MZ-G755 and im happy with the sound quality an everything but i like the idea of bigger disc space (HI-MD), and option to connect to my PC and transfer music.

The reason i want to buy a MD and not an IPOD or other MP3 player is that i tested several units of them and the best quality i get is in MD !!!

The things i want in my new MD is:

1. optical conection (i like to transfer my cd's in best quality).

2. usb conection (i need to transfer sometimes music fast and easy).

3. i preffer aa battery in the MD couse its cheap and last for long playtime and recording.

4. it need to be hi-md.

5. back lite or some thing like this would be good couse i dont see nothing in my MD in dark places.

TNX !!!

It looks to me like the MZ-NH700 fits the closest to what you are looking, for, though it does NOT have backlight on either the body (none do) or the remote.

This is a "1st generation" HiMD, so may not be available new, though check out EBay. You can always add a separate backlit remote (also see EBay)

Hope this helps

RH710 has no microphone input, just line-in and USB.

RH900 has some extra features but two annoying ones: the latch that holds the battery opens too easily (you have to tape it shut) and the Pause and Stop are both on the same button (two sides of it), which makes it more difficult to operate without looking at it.

Get the NH700. It does everything you want for the best price. Second generation didn't improve playback or recording--it just added direct mp3 playback (which sounds bad).

You might also look at the european NH600 (1st gen) (not the american NH600D).

2nd gen. units like rh710 have native support for mp3s (transferred via SonicStage),but lack support for legacy SP recording via mic/line/optical-in.

Roamer is right--you could look for the MZ-NH600 (but NOT the NH600D which has no line-in).

Second generation was mostly about cutting costs, not about improving things. The only new capability was playing mp3s without converting them to ATRAC first--but they have poor sound quality when played back as mp3s, so it's not much of a feature. To play back mp3s, second generation eliminated realtime recording in the old MD-compatible formats: SP, LP2 and LP4. A bad tradeoff.

Here's the NH700 for 70 GBP plus shipping.

OK i like the idea of using one AA bat so i will go for the first gen NH600 or NH700 or NH800.

Becouse of our stupid sony suplier we have only this versions in my country and the NH900, but the positive side is that i can get them all new.

The only diference that i see between the NH600 and the NH700 is mic-in (that i dont use) and that there is no remote.

Is there other things that difrent (sound quality or something like that) ?
