NW-HD3 Shaking

Question

Hi there,

I currently own a Sony NW-HD3, and I recently have noticed that I can feel the unit shake when I change track or browse through menu's etc, basiclly when the hard drive is accessed. I downloaded the NW-HD3 manual from the sony website and under "Troubleshooting" the manual says:

The sound is heard from the inside

of the player. The player shakes.

When the built-in hard disk of the player moves, the sound of

operation may be heard, and the vibration of the player occurs.

This is not a malfunction.

I was just wondering if this is common, or is an actual fault with the player, I am aware of what sony say but was wondering if anybody else with a NW-HD3 has experienced the same scenario.

Thanks

Matt

That's pretty common. I can feel my 5G iPod's hard-drive spinning/"shaking" when viewing photos. I've also felt the Vaio pocket's hard-drive spinning when playing with it at a store. You probably can feel the vibration as "shaking" because the HD3 is so slim, so any minor vibration cause by the hard-drive can be felt easily. Don't worry. :) Just try not to shake the unit around when it is accessing the hard-drive.

Matt,

Welcome to "Atraclife"..

It is normal for every Hard disk to make some low noise while accessing tracks (When the Hard disk is moving ) but still it should be within limits it should not be too high..If you are not having any problem while changing or playing songs on your hd3 ..Then it ok ...
