zooplibob
Ok I have a Sony MZ-M10 that I got for making recordings, but I realized I can use it on my trip to put all my music on. However, it seems you can only have 1 level of folders. Is this right??? If so maybe you can tell me what to do.All of my music is classical. On my computer i have a separate folder for each composer. Under each composer, theres a separate folder for each work, which is usually 3 to 4 mp3s.Ex. Rachmaninoff->Concerto3->Movement1.mp3 Rachmaninoff->Concerto3->Movement2.mp3 Rachmaninoff->Concerto2->Movement1.mp3etc.So what am I supposed to with this? I certainly cant just make 1 Rachmaninoff folder and throw all the mp3's in there, as you can see. This seems slightly retarded. Why can't I just drag n drop my entire mp3 collection onto the MD-player from windows explorer, with my existing directory structure, and have the md player get the songs from that? Am I missing something here?ThanksJeff
1kyle
What you could do on your device (assuming it works like the RH10) is to say define a GROUP on it say LVL1, then add your Title (the album) then the tracks. You AFAIK can get more than 1 album under a group.Drag 'n Drop unfortunately hasn't been in SONY's methodology on MD players / recorders for years (however for playback at MP3 the SONY ERICCSON walkman mobile phones W800i, W810i, W900i) all support Drag 'n Drop for MP3 and will play files at 320 kbs if you want. But you can on MD have TRACK, GROUP, ARTIST,ALBUM on the RH10 (press the search button). There should be a similar feature on other models (you might need to use the remote). So you should be able to organise the music on your MD player at least to that level. That means you should have at least 3 levels of hierarchy available before you get to the actual track. One of the problems with Classical Music is that you usually need more info than the original MP3 tagging and play list was designed for. However IDv2 will add more features.Cheers-K Edited April 17, 2006 by 1kyle
