Hello

Instead of buying a 2nd-hand MD player, a good fren of mine offered to loan me his. Cos he is now a happy MP3 player owner. His Sharp unit does not have a remote. So, does any 1 noes if it is still possible to erase discs without the remote, using only the min unit? Thanks.

You sure can, provided that your friend also gave you the USB cord for the unit so that you can connect the MD unit to your computer. If you have it, then you're set. You'll also need to install the MT899's driver (available for free download from this site) first, then install the most recent SonicStage (also free). Good luck!

It should be possible. I've never used this particular machine, but it was possible with every portable Sharp MD recorder that I've ever used.

Hi Belletristik

Thanks for your advice. Actually I have checked on the internet and found the operating manual but have not been able to find any indicative instruction for disc editing on the main unit. For this URL : {http://www.minidisc.org/brian_youn/immt880/index.htm}, it is clear enough that without the remote, the main unit is not capable of editing discs i.e. erasing tracks or even discs. Too bad. dday506.

Hi Jaylen thanks for your suggestion.

I was only given the main unit, the external battery casing and the stand and nothing else. For your info, from the evaluation taken from this URL : {http://www.minidisc.org/brian_youn/immt880/index.html}, it is rather clear the main unit is not capable of editing discs. Sigh...

Ok, I think that both Belletristik and I were under the assumption that you had the unit's USB cable, which would enable you to edit discs (using the main unit) via computer. Your question wasn't as clear as I thought because you certainly can edit discs by only using the unit, just not the way you were intending to go about it. I didn't know you wanted to do actual disc editing on-the-go and without NetMD/BeatJam/SonicStage (computer). The only way that I can edit discs by only using the unit (no computer involved) is with my MD deck. Sorry for the misunderstanding and it's too bad about your Sharp.

Hi Jaylen, no apologies necessary. Grateful already. THanks and have a good day. dday506.
