My Girlfriend bought me the Sony NWA-1000 for Xmas.
I’d heard the connect software was pooh but I’ve actually only used it twice. The first time I used it to rip 10 CDs and it worked like a charm. Dunno what everyone is moaning about, I thought to myself.
Anyway, last night I decided to try and upload some music I had downloaded from the internet in mp3 format. I added them all to my Library and then moved them across into the transfer window. Now last time I did this I seem to remember a small progress window popping up. So the tracks appear in the transfer window and now appear to be stored on the device (I can see them when I click on the device index thingy). Now although they seem to have been moved into the device their status isn’t showing as “on device” like the others but instead reads “ready for export”.
When I try and find the tracks on the Walkman they don’t appear on the devices library. I’ve tried manually transferring tracks s well as clicking on the sync device button but they never seem to transfer properly. I don’t even know for sure if their on the device or not. When I tried to delete the tracks from the device using Connect they simply change from status “ready to export” to “ready to delete” but I cannot seem to get anything to happen.
After 3 hours of dicking around with the software I decided to simply try and rip another CD but same thing happened.
I’m sure the USB device is working because it shows up within “My Computer” and I can transfer files between the drive.
I’ve download the full manual which I’m going to read tonight, but in the mean time dose everyone know what I’m doing wrong?
Oh and am I right in thinking that I don’t have to covert my .mp3 files to omg for them to work with the player?
And finally, do I have to use the connect software supplied and dose anybody else use an alterative?
