fabulouscoot
hey guysthis is my first post and i'm not that computer literate, so please go easy on me.. well, i have a mz-rh910 that i love and have had for a little over a year. everything was great when i first bought it and installed sonicstage (it came with version 3) until i installed version 3.4. i started having that "transfers not allowed" thing that a number of other people had, but i never got mine resovled. because then version 4 came out and i heard somebody say that hopefully this new version will get rid of the bugs of the last ones. so i installed this and, BAM! sonicstage won't work for anything anymore. i've been sonicstage free for about 5 months now, and i can't stand it anymore, i've made lots of recordings that i want to upload and i'm tired of the stuff that's on my MD's. i'm using a windows xp, and here's everything i've done up to now and my resulsts. okay, so when i first tried installing version 4 (which i downloaded from here, the US version) it said it was aborted, and then in another box it said "please insert disk 1 that contains the file layout bin." anybody know what the hell that means? other times i've tried to reinstall it it says that it installed succesfully but it's lying, sonicstage won't work at all, it won't start or anything. (by the way, there's no where for me to start the program either, there's no shortcut or startup thingy)i've also tried to uninstall sonicstage to reinstall but it's not even listed as a program in the whole remove/install program thing under control panal. so i've deleted everything i can find related to sonicstage in an attempt to "uninstall it" myself (bad idea?) and i've also ran several registry cleaners too. no luck! when i try to install version 3 from the cd my computer suddenly completely freezes, and and i have to reboot. if you help me, i will love you, i will love you forever. A440
Sorry to hear you're having problems. Here's the first approach. Follow the steps here to get all old SonicStage junk out of your computer.http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=8071Download the MDCF 3.4 installer from Downloads. Disconnect from the Internet (to stay secure), turn off every Antivirus/Internet Security/Firewall kind of program on your computer, and run the installer. Also, if you have any Windows skinning programs--Windowblinds, etc.--turn them off. SonicStage doesn't like them. Let's hope it installs. (Turn on the security programs before reconnecting online.) See if that works, and let us know what happens.
