Bullet1979
I'd like to know if anyone has had any experience with recorders that DON'T set off metal detector wands at live shows. I used to use a MZ-R55 and I know that it is detected because I was caught once . Ever since that experience, even though I use a different recorder, I have always taken my equipment back to the car when I realize they're using wands. Currently I'm using a MZ-RH910 which appears to be made primarily of hard plastic - so my question is: Have any of you taken your recorders in that were not detected by metal detectors? I have permission from all the bands that I record, but the venues themselves usually stand in the way... Any input would be greatly appreciated! A440
If a wand detects my recorder (MZ-NHF800), I take it out of my pocket, smile and say, Oh, yeah, my mp3 player. No one gives it a second look because minidisc is so unknown, and most gizmos that size are just players. The RH910 looks even more like a Creative or Sansa player, so you might just try bluffing. The worst you'd have to do is take it back to your car. Or you could keep your cell phone in the same pocket, and when the wand beeps, pull that out....
