marchy007
I am used to recording my favorite radio shows to MD. Now that I am looking at new MD recorder to buy I am confused with the reviews mentioning that modern recorders (mine is 5 years old) can record only from PCs, not from analog sources like radio. And the manufacturer's descriptions do not mention analog input either. Ithought that all of MD recorders have an analog line in input but now I am not so sure. Please help, which modern Sony MD recorders have this capability. Roamer
The vast majority of the MDs have a line-in, except for the player/downloader only units. From the HiMDs, you should avoid the NH600D, DH10P and RH710 (I'm not mentionning the japanese players units, but you will hardly find them unless you're looking for them). Check the description page of the units listed at minidisc.org (link on the main page), you should find the description for the type of input accepted. A440
From the HiMDs, you should avoid the NH600D, DH10P and RH710 RH710 does have Line-in but not Mic-In. NH600 also has Line-in but not Mic-in, NH600D does not have line-in.Other NH* and RH* units have both line-in and mic-in. Anything with a D in the name only Downloads from the computer--like the minidisc version of an Ipod. Anything beginning with a MZ-E is a player only, which just plays discs made on other units. Get a Hi-MD (MZ-NH or RH) so you can upload the recordings to your computer as file transfers.
