choochootrain
Hey,I have a Sony MZ-N707 md, and I use OpenMG to transfer my songs to it. Back then, I never had any problems transferring or playing songs with my md, but recently its been kind of whacky. When I transfer songs to my md, some of the songs play, but then some of them do not. The songs that I previously had on the md from a while back still play perfectly fine, but some of these new transferred songs do not play and when they do play there seems to be a lot of static and the song becomes choppy. Also, I've tried transferring the songs a couple of times and it seems random as to what songs are playable. For example, I transferred Jingle Bells to my md and it plays, but after I delete it from the md and transfer it again the next time, it won't play. Is this a problem with my md player or my md's? How do I fix this problem?
raintheory
OpenMG is pretty outdated. You'd be best to update to SonicStage. Most likely this will sort out any software-related problems you are having.http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=9586On a side-note... Do your mic/line-in recordings come out okay? choochootrain
I've never tried mic/line-in recordings before, so I wouldn't know. Would it help if I tried?
A440
Just out of curiosity, give it a try. If you don't have a microphone, plug your headphones (yes) into your mic jack, start recording, and yell at them. See how it comes out. choochootrain
I tried Sonicstage, but the problem still exists. I'm going to try the mic in recordings and see how those turn out and I'll get back to you.
bobt
More than likely your record head is getting flaky. Do not use your unit any more, it will start randomly erasing discs. See if an electronics shop can fix the wiring, or get a first generation Hi-MD or an RH1.But above all, do not put anything recorded back into your 707 till it is fixed.Bob
choochootrain
Hey,I tried recording mic/line-in recordings like you told me to, but when I play it back it doesn't seem to play. I don't hear anything. The timer says it plays for two seconds and then stops and loads for a while and then plays two seconds and then loads again, doing this constantly. So does that mean my record head is flaky like bobt says, or what? If so, is it worth it to get it fixed or should I just buy a new one altogether? If it is more, you can get a very decent 1st generation, I would go NH 700 or 800 if budget is an issue, NH 1 if it isn't. If you are willing to go for the NH1, you mught as well go all the way and get an RH1.Good luck,Bob
