Sony Asia Pacific has ConnectPlayer Updates (as usual no mention on SonyAustralia yet):

Sony CONNECT Player-Update Version 1.0.02.XXXXX / Auto-Update Version 1.0.02.XXXXX

Download size: 113MB (119,415,235 bytes)

The following symptoms are resolved in this Update version:

1. The CONNECT Player program freezes when trying to exit it.

2. A Windows Security message appears when the CONNECT Player program is started.

3. A tinyhttp.exe error message appears when checking out 1,000 or more tracks.

4. The CONNECT Player program stops functioning after importing 3000 or more tracks.

5. The Gracenote logo is displayed for every file's MusicID wave recognition.

6. The CONNECT Player program freezes if the playback queue is cleared while content is being played in Intelligent shuffle mode.

7. The system requirements listed for the CONNECT Player program in the ReadMe.txt file are incorrect.

The following symptom is resolved in the Auto-Update:

The Auto-Update function no longer locates updates after an Auto-Update download session is paused and the computer restarted.

The following modules are installed as required when CONNECT Player is installed.

Microsoft® DirectX® Runtime 9.0c © 2004 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

It is a big file so I hope it is worth the download. I haven't tried yet as it is a 1/4 of my ADSL usage so will wait till next month.

Kurisu,

Sorry for sticking it in the wrong spot.

What is an ISO ( a sort of disk image file or something else)?

At 113MB it certainly is a lot bigger than 24-19MB mentioned for 1.0.03 updates.

This download file dated 25January2006 from the Asia Pacific Site is "CONNECTPlayer_upgrade_1.0.02.zip" doesn't sound like it is the latest update so I'm really confused now.

The CONNECT Player 1.0.02 package from Sony's Asia-Pacific site is essentially a full installer - thus the reference as ISO. For the latest version, please refer to CONNECT Player Update 1.0.03 thread within "Software Updates" for download links. You can of course burn the CONNECT Player 1.0.02 full installer to a CD for your convenience.

Thanks Ishiyoshi, now the fog has lifted.

I couldn't detect the subtle difference between a complete upgrade and an upgrade patch on the AP site. (luckly that I actually have an appointment with my Optometrist on Friday)
