padgett
I bought an MZ-NH700 (Australian version, used in U.S.) to make PCM recordings and burn CD's of them. I've successfully recorded some files, downloaded SS4.0, and connected the player via USB. I'm running Windows XP. I downloaded SS4.0 from the U.S. site, even though it says for U.S. models only (could this really be the problem?).When I try to connect and upload, I can see some files in the Windows Explorer, and Sonic Stage will usually indicate that the player is connected, but after that it seems to vary. Sometimes it just locks up, sometimes I can see some files in the transfer window, one time I even got one of the folders that showed up to highlight and then it locked up. I have tried bypassing the USB hub and that seemed to help.I am running as non-administrator, and it forced me to log in as administrator several times to get it installed. Does SS4.0 need to be running as administrator all the time? Thanks for any suggestions you have for an apparently clueless newbie.OK, slightly less clueless now. It occurred to me that it wasn't nearly as hard to try running as admin as reinstalling SS4.0 from a Pacific site. It's downloading stuff beautifully now.So, suggestion 1: add to the FAQ that SS may not work right if you're not the adminstrator in XP.Suggestion 2: Anybody have a clue as to what privleges need to be there for non-admins so that SS4.0 will work in XP? I know I was set up as a power user in my normal account, but that's apparently not enough. Edited November 11, 2006 by padgett
