ka-os
Hello! New member here, so please be patient!I've searched the site (which is fantastic) for an answer to my question, but can't immediately see what I'm looking for.I currently have a Sony MZ-N710S unit, and a CMT-CP505MD minisystem, as well as about a hundred MDs with music recorded from CDs in SP and LP4.I want to upgrade to the Hi-MD RH1. Basically I want to know if I can transfer the contents of these discs to the new format; ie, can they be uploaded from the original discs to my PC, and onto Hi-MD as Hi-MD tracks... if you see what I mean. Thanks! I've been doing quite a bit of transferring since I got my RH1.Keep in mind, however, that SonicStage will convert them to Atrac3Plus, at a bitrate equivalent to the older LP2 and SP. SP is converted to "Hi-SP" (Atrac3Plus, 256 kbps), which is identical to SP to my ears, and takes up roughly half the space. Just remember to select the standard transfer mode. raintheory
The only limitation that exists for uploading your legacy discs is regarding how they were recorded...You aren't able to upload discs that were recorded via an older Version of SonicStage/OpenMG/Real..Anything else (including pre-recorded discs) can be uploaded with the RH1. A440
Just to restate raintheory's post in case it's not clear. Recorded from CDs in realtime, yes (though with the SP limitations as described above). Transferred from CDs via SonicStage/OpenMG/Real/Simple Burner, no. Sony thinks that would make you an evil music pirate.
ka-os
Thanks chaps, that's great!I've recorded most of my music using my CMT-CP505MD minisystem (CD to MD), and rarely Sonicstage, so it sounds like I should be able to transfer most of the stuff.
