jngu6
Hi all,I record guitars and keyboards played through an amplifier. When i transfer the recording to my laptop and play it back, the recording completely pans to the left speaker. I'm not sure what the problem could be and would appreciate any help on this matter. My MD unit is a Sony MZ-NH900 and the microphone i use for recording is an Audio Technica ATR30 vocal/instrument microphone. It has a XLR to 1/4" I use a 1/8" mini-plug adapter to connect the microphone to the MD. I position the microphone directly in front of the amp approximately 70cm away. Thanks in advance,Poss
A440
Left channel only usually means you're putting a mono plug into a stereo jack. Does that 1/8" miniplug have two circles around it (like your headphone plug or the one in my avatar) or just one? One is mono. Also, the XLR to 1/4" might be mono. You've got to split the mono signal from the mic into stereo--it should be pretty easy to find an adaptor that does that.
jngu6
I found an adapter for it. It's a 1/4" mono to 1/8" stereo mini plug adapter but i still have the same problem. Any ideas on what else might be wrong or how i can work around it?
A440
Make sure your mic jack is working. Plug your stereo headphones into the mic jack and yell at them--they work like a weak mic--and see if you get a level on both sides.
