horsemouth2000
Hello,The other night my friend dropped my Sony MZ-NH700 on a wooden floor (ouch!) and subsequently i can only get sound out of one side of the headphones. It is definitely not a problem with the headphones themselves as i have tried them with other players and they work fine. It seems as if there is a loose connection somewhere inside, because when i fiddle about with the headphone input i get intermittent sound from both sides, but when it is fully plugged in i only get the right ear working. Does anyone have any idea how i can fix this or where i can get this fixed in london? Any ideas how much it would cost me?Thanks for reading!Cheers! Avrin
Most probably, one the conductors leading to the heaphone socket is damaged. This can be fixed. You may download the service manual here: http://forums.minidisc.org/downloads/download.php?file=77But I strongly advise against trying to repair the unit yourself. Things are REALLY small inside those MD units, you know...The problem is quite easy to fix to an experienced microelectronis repairman, who has a suitable small and low-power soldering iron.ADDED: And don't fiddle with the jack anymore - you may increase the damage!
