The only "recording" you can do on this unit is through the USB cable as it is a downloader. What computer system do you have, and does it recognize the unit. You can only use 60, 74, and 80 minute discs, not the 1 Gigabyte Hi-MD discs. Try to get simpleburner and see if it will transfer a song, or CD. If not try putting a CD inot the computer and see if Sonic Stage recognizes the CD, click on transfer, and see what happens. We are assuming battery is good for this exercize, as well as a good USB cable. Also try another disc.

let us know what happens, good luck,

Bob

You also have the possibility of a bad recording head, does it play any thing?

I alos am having troubles. I am using Win XP, SS 4.3. I have bothe memorex MD 74's and Sonys 80 min discs. I can convert the song, the transfer window shows i have the new song on the disc. But if i try ejecting th edisc and putting it back in its a blank disc. If i try playing from the PC before ejecting it will act as it plays and count form 1 sec, to 2, to 3, to 4 but then freeze. Then 5,6,7,8,9 freeze...

I tried a straight audio cd to convert over - and same issue happens. Im starting to think its the write head as the reading is just fine.

Another side note - if i had an already compiled disc from teh home deck, and tried editing a title - the whole disk is lost.
