NW-E407 firmware won't update!

Question

Hi, I'm having trouble updating my NW-E407 to firmware v2. Every time I try it, I get as far as 99% before everything freezes up. After a minute or two, I get a message saying that the update has timed out and I should retry. However, by this point, the computer doesn't recognise that there's a device connected and I have to use the reset button to get any life from the player.

I'm using Windows XP Home; the device is on a USB 2 port, though I tried the update with the device setting to 'USB Low Power' with no success; everything else works fine; I've tried it with all other USBs disconnected (modem and printer)...

Please help!

Mark

Hi,

Yes im following instrructions correctly , have now tried DRKHADES suggestions of lowering power to 100ma and also running while in safe mode. No Joy.

My serial number is 528xx so the issue of it stopping when searching is presumably fixed anyway and Im not that bothered about a different clock or additional display screens but it still BUGS me why it wont upgrade!.
