soundburp
Hi, I've recently acquired the MZ-RH1 which is really great btw, great sound, design, pretty much everything, except for the fact that occasionally I stumble upon some bad recordings. Now I figured this might happen, but it is the same error every time.. so I figure something must be up. I transfer the recording I've made (I record lectures) using SonicStage and sometimes the recordings will simply stop playing after 10 minuttes and 20 seconds. It is always 10 minuttes and 20 seconds. Sonicstage stops. I have to fast forward, using the slider, which is tedious in SonicStage, to 11.15 approximately, before it picks up again. The seconds in between is apparently a big black hole. Why do this error occur, you gather? I really hope for some help as I really rely heavily on these recordings and it is annoying to have these fractured recordings, as I usually end up having to use the Devide tool in SonicStage in order to cut away the bad part of the recording that for some reason causes the player to stop.I do not use the same tape. They are new tapes. Hope for some feedback
raintheory
What happens when you listen to the recording on the unit itself? What version of SonicStage are you using?
soundburp
What happens when you listen to the recording on the unit itself? What version of SonicStage are you using? The recording will, surprisingly, play just fine on the unit itself with absolutely no hickups or stops or nutin'. I tried transferring the track I was listening to that I knew was "broke" once again, but it came out broke in SonicStage at exactly 10.20 My system specs are E6600 2.4, 2GB RAM, plenty of hdd drive space and I'm using the following:SonicStage : 4.3.01.14050SonicStage Add-on for CONNECT Download : 4.3.01.14050OpenMG Secure Module : 4.7.00.12140MagicGate Memory Stick Device : 4.7.00.12140NW-E2, NW-E3, NW-E5 and NW-E8P : 4.7.00.12140OpenMG CD : 4.7.00.12140M.S. I just posted almost the exact message. My transfer stops at 44% everytime. When I play it back from the MZ-RH1 it plays without a problem. My guess is some sort of buffer overflow. The transfer seems to bog down. You can see the time remaining begin to que up. I've tried the transfer with my Laptop which has 1 gig of memory and my desktop which has 2 gig. The first couple of times it happened I initialized the disk and rerecorded. The transfer when thru. This time it didn't work. I almost sure it's a bug. dklaskowski
I can confirm the problem -- I recorded a meeting today and the all three tracks on the recording transferred to the computer okay, but the first track has a "gap" starting at 10 minutes and 20 seconds. The recording on the MZ-RH1 is fine -- just the recording on the computer is broken.I tried it again with my MZ-RH910 and same problem!I'm using SonicStage version 4.3I've done this before and no problems, but I was using SonicStage version 3.4. I upgraded to 4.3 today, but I see one post that says 3.4 does the same thing.
dklaskowski
I just made one more experiment: I added a track mark at 30 seconds in the first track and then tried to transfer the second track. It failed too, but not at 10 minutes and 20 seconds. BUT it failed at the same place as before in the recording. I know it is the same place because I can listen to the talking and hear that it is failing 10 minutes and 20 seconds from the start of the minidisc recording!I'm going to delete the 30 seconds at the beginning of the recording and try again...It still fails in the same place in the recording as before. 10 minutes and 20 seconds from the start of the original recording. dklaskowski
I've done some more experimenting. I have a second system with a built in Net-MD minidisc device and version 4.0 Sonic Stage software. I connected my MZ-RH1 to that system and tried to transfer the files and I run into the same problem. The first track does not transfer correctly as described above in the other posts.I tried to listen to the first track through the system -- it stops at the place were the transfer stops. Listening to the first track off-line through the MZ-RH1 with headphones works fine. Just the transfer is failing and just the first track.I recorded an orchestra rehearsal a few days ago and everything was fine with that, so I know it can work, but this recording of a lecture on Saturday is really being a problem.
