Mp3s to HiMD - what is the deal? Why some not others?

Hi all - short time listener 1st time caller here - new to MD - love the sound quality but frustrated by lack of simplicity.....

Is there a reason why transferring/converting Mp3s (via SonicStage) works for SOME Mp3 files only and not others? I'm trying in vain to transfer an extensive collection of downloaded music mixes in Mp3 format across to MD and all I get are messages that Sonic Stage doesn't support that file type. Seems a strange message given that I have no troubles transferring other mp3s.

I've had a look through the various tech sections, and seen the instructions for transferring mp3's via Nero and simple burner, but frankly, I'm a tech vacuum and much of it makes no sense.

Is there a better way? Do subsequent versions of Sonic Stage handle Mp3s better? It seems to me that with Mp3 apparently being the preferred portable music format that it should be easy to transfer them across to MD - although I could obviously be very wrong.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.....

Hi raintheory (and all)

Currently using Sonic Stage v2, but have downloaded the latest version from here ready to install today.

As for hardware, I've got a MZ-NH700 - love it for playback quality - just wish I could get my tracks to transfer across (missing all my favourites).

I also just picked up a second hand Kenwood KMD-860R for the car, but am even more saddened to find out it only accepts the original NetMD format, not the HiMD, so all my existing MDs full of hours of HiMD music are rendered completely bloody useless in the car, which is where I really wanted them.

Upgrading SonicStage should solve the problem for you. Ever since v3.4 there have been some massive fixes, including better Mp3 support. Also if you do any live recording, older SonicStage versions have been known to randomly trash discs, definitely a good reason to upgrade.

You should also be able to use SonicStage to create NetMD discs as well for your car...
