dfretto
MZ-N1 stuck in TOC Edit. No controls work and eject is jammed. Powering unit down allows normal operation but unit is not saving tracks properly.Recording band rehearsal with mic.Recorded 7 tunes pushing pause in between each.Unit jammed in TOC Edit 3 times. Powering down restored operation each time.In the end, only 3 of 7 tunes were saved. Can anyone please help with this? I got this unit recently on E-Bay and fear it is junk. Could it be the actual disc?
Superbaldguy
Does "powering down" mean removing the battery? The MZ-N1 is known to have issues (expecially the early-run production models) with the ribbon connector to the optical block (recording mechanism) as it often disconnects ; if that's the case, your eBay purchase is stuffed. You can try another disc, but that doesn't seem to be your problem.

LP produced more frequent TOC Edit jams and LP2 produced drop outs every 5 to 20 seconds. I guess asking the seller if all functions work is not detailed enough. Rats! Know of any fully functional units for sale?I would say...stuffed at this point. I tried a new disc and both LP and LP2 modes. Superbaldguy
Sadly, you got hosed by a seller over at eBay. Time for some not-so-good feedback. Check the FS forums here and over at the Audio T-Board - there is a regular named Valder who is trying to sell an orange RH10.Here is the thread I was referring to: http://www.audiotstation.com/forum/showthread.php?t=33266You may be better served to get a new RH1; it's about the only new portable MDR you can still buy. The seller may actually give a refund of some sort. I might save up and get an M-Audio digital rather than a MD. Opinions?
