kraig_nielsen
Hi,I am hoping there is someone who can help me, even though I know how tight-lipped Sony is about their technology. I used my minidisc to record a meeting I had with someone who had committed a major crime against my family. After the meeting was over, I pressed Stop on the minidisc and it said TOC Edit (I think that is what it says). The problem is that it never finished the TOC. After waiting about an hour, I cut the power to it hoping it had gotten enough written. Unfortunately, the TOC was not written and the minidisc player treats that disc as a blank disc.Seeing as how it records and then goes to write the table of contents afterwards, I am speculating that the recording is still on the disc. The minidisc player just doesn't know about it because the TOC wasn't updated with that info. I desperately need to recover that recording.I think the basic steps of what I need is as follows, again speculating. I need a driver or program that would allow me to read the raw data off of the minidisc and onto a PC. Then I need to know the TOC details (where it is located, the format, etc.). I should then be able to fill in the TOC with the encoding used and telling it that the whole disc is one long audio track. Then I need to write the raw data back to the minidisc. I am hoping I could then play the audio track and where my recording actually is, I am hoping it will get decoded properly. I know that this recording is the only thing on that minidisc and that it was a fresh minidisc.I am hoping that someone knows where I can find the things I need to recover this recording. If not, maybe someone knows a developer at Sony who could help me. If they want I would gladly send them the minidisc if they could recover it. This is my only chance for getting justice. Thanks,Kraig
raintheory
If you are using a NetMD or regular MD recorder, you can get the data recovered by "TOC Cloning". If you are using a Hi-MD recorder, you are out of luck for the time being. What unit are you using?Shoot me a PM if you want more info/help with TOC Cloning. kraig_nielsen
TOC Cloning did it. Unfortuantely there was still some corruption in the actual recording near the end (the part I wanted). If anyone knows of any software that allows reading raw data from the minidisc, please let me know. Thanks again.
