Barry Banks
I own a Sony MZ-R909 minidisc recorder which i have recently encounted a problem with. It powers up fine and plays any pre recorded MD's but I have trouble with all new new recordings that i make on it. It allows me to record a signal (record level is fine and counter is active) and once the recording has finished it saves the data along with TOC (although this is rather brief and im sure should take longer). It then allows me to skip though the tracks if i have recorded more than one but it wont allow me to play any of them. If I eject the disc or disconnect the power supply, my next attempt at playback results in the message 'BLANK DISC".I have tried cleaning the lens but this has not solved the problem. I would be suprised if the lens is worn out as I have owned the recorder from new and it has recieved very little use.Any ideas on what could have caused this problem or how it could be resolved would be much apprieciated. sector001
sounds like the recording optical head is dead...can't really say why it fails but stuff like this happens from time to time. and it might not be financially sound to get it repaired.
