AJhummun
Hi there guys, Please forgive me, i'm a little new to the forum and I am certain that this must crop up quite a lot... I'm having a nightmare time with the Connect / sonicstage 3.4 software. I have ATRAC MP3 player NW-HD5, I have been using sonic stage 3.2 and had no problems, I downloaded 3.3 because, welll, i figuired i couldn't get any worse than it was with sonicstage. I was also using Vaio Music Transfer which was well good for drag / droppin stuff onto my HD5. Since installing stupid connect, it's asked me to format my HD5 unit. I have to avoid this at all costs because i have my lecture notes on their, and don't want to risk losing them, (i usually back them up but i do that every couple of weeks). What's particularly annoying is the fact that I upgraded my desktop PC to 3.4 a while ago and didn't have any trouble whatsoever, on my stupid Sony VAIO laptop however, im having real issues?! The other thing which is well weird is that I can no longer use Vaio Music Transfer, as it says 'this ATRAC HDD drive is not compatable with this version of Vaio Music transfer'. Everything's gone wrong. I love the HD5, and I'm usually a strong advocate for sony, but this is well poo. THe sonicstage software has always been poo even back in the day when i had a MZN505 mindisc player. Can anyone offer anykind of assistance? Thanks a million, Adam De Jhummun. AJhummun
No that's not the problem at all, I've never had a problem for whatever reason transfering music on to my HD5 from two different computers, I do it quite regularly in fact. My problem is since having installed sonicstage 3.4 it has requested me to initialise / format my player. I'd rather do lots of horrible things to my bodily oriphises before i go through with that. Is there anyway i can go back to 'the good old days' when i could use vaio music transfer, and there were no requests to format my HD5? I think there might also be complications with what i've seen people do in removing registry entries due to the fact that I am using a Vaio laptop, and have heaps of other useless sony software on here. Rubbish. Everything's gone wrong. Regretting not getting that Ipod anyone? Stay well clear of these lousy sony sonicstage garbage. I contacted sony support and this was their reply: Hello,Thank you for contacting Sony Connect! We apologize you are not able to access all parts of the Connect Music Store. From your description this may be caused by Internet Explorer Security settings or Internet security application(s). For troubleshooting purpose for all supported Windows OS's please do the following from Internet Explorer:If you are running Windows XP you will need to make a new Windows user account. Guest Stuge
Adam De Jhummun,That Letter suggest that Sony is totally confused ...Forget about that now come to the point ..This initialising problem has been faced by many people(After upgrading to SSver3.4 ) .I`m afraid you will need to format your device to use it again.I think it is related to from where you downloaded your update & SonicStage is being downloaded .In which Country you live ?If you live in Europe Always update your SonicStage using Sony european support site ..If Us or Canada only US Support Site . AJhummun
mmm.... this sounds like it's making sense, maybe i have got the wrong region. Thanks so much for your help by the it's much appreciated. Any advice on how to completely remove all of its componants? Add/remove clearly doens't work i've tried that route a couple (hundred) times, i can't roll back the driver.... I've seen some advice, but the annoying thing is, is that i'm on a vaio, and have crap loads of other [useless], sony software, so i'm reluctant to mess with the registry files completely unawares....
