Dominym
For some reason, Sonicstage won't let me transfer some songs to my MD anymore. Some transfer fine, but others get a Transfer Not Allowed message. The weird thing is, some of the songs that won't transfer are ones I've transferred before. :|What the heck happened? I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but I just get the same thing. Is there a way to fix this?
raintheory
If you are using SonicStage 4.3, try uninstalling and reinstalling an earlier version (unless you are on Vista).
Dominym
That's kind of what I did already. I was using an older version previously, and when I uninstalled, I upgraded to the latest one.
raintheory
The latest one (4.3) provides Vista support, but has caused a few problems similar to what you're experiencing with some users. Try a complete uninstall (clearing all traces of the program from program folders, and from registry as well if you are comfortable) and install 4.2 from here: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=17769
Dominym
Thanks, I'll try that.
Dominym
Uninstalled 4.3 and went to 4.2, but it still won't let me transfer them. :|
raintheory
So it's only specific mp3 files? A few things:Check in "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\SonicStage\Packages\ (and its subfolders) and see if those particular mp3 files are in there in .oma format. If so, delete them as these are the Atrac versions that aren't transferring. If they still won't go, try right-clicking on a file in "My Library" that won't transfer, click "Convert Format" and choose whatever bitrate you prefer (if using NetMD be sure to use either LP2 132kbps Atrac3, or LP4 64kbps Atrac3, as the Atrac3plus formats will not transfer to anything but Hi-MD units). Now change your transfer settings to "as-is" and try your transfer again.Alternately,I know SonicStage used to be fussy about id3 tags. You could try re-doing the tags in whatever other media player you use, save the updated tags and try re-importing to SonicStage and see if they transfer again.Let us know... Dominym
I tried converting a track, but it says it won't because either the track isn't found, SonicStage doesn't support the format, or it's copy protected.
raintheory
Sorry to hear SonicStage is being so picky...As a last resort you can use dBpoweramp music converter (freeware) to convert the mp3 files to WAV, then import the WAV files into SonicStage and transfer. Should work with no problems that way. It's a bit of a runaround but when all else fails this is the method I use to get music on MD.dBpoweramp can be found here: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm
Dominym
Thanks again, I'll try that.
tthirud
I spent some hours doing uninstall/reinstall after Sonicstage suddenly refused to transfer, play or import anything. The solution to my problems was doing the complete uninstall described here - after that chore a reinstall of Sonicstage 4.3 works fine for me.
