I've had my MZ-NH900 for 3+ years and lately it has started to have som e problems. At first I noticed that it would take a long time to Display the contents of a HI-MD when in sonic stage. Then every once and awile when transfering an album via sonic stage, MP3 to 48K Atrac it would show graphically on the player that the music was there, but there would be no sound. Next on any of my 11 full Hi-MD disks on any track at any time the player would continue to play but their would be no sound ( I checked head phones and all connections ). The final progression has been that along with the above issues, 25 % of the time when putting a new disk in the player an error is produced that says no data. Can anyone help? I like this player alot. It's very handy for bootlegging concerts.

Thanks in advance A.

Can you use this without the assistance of a PC? i.e. make recordings via the mic input. If that doesn't work, it would appear the OWH is cooked or the ribbon connector is broken. Has it erased any discs?

Sounds very familiar to my story! I bought a MZ-NH900 about 3 years ago, until 2 weeks ago it has worked perfectly. I think it got knocked around in Frankfurt airport, to be honest I'm not too sure what happened to it! Over the last 2 weeks it has stopped playing random folders on any Hi-MD disc I try (it makes a loud spinning noise, as if it is searching for the folder/files), other times it plays a song, cuts out (but keeps playing) and comes back after 20 seconds or so. When it cuts out, I found that if I I press and hold the Rewind button to backtrack through a song, it takes about 10 seconds before it responds, and plays the "missing piece of music" perfectly.

Also, sonic stage sometimes connects to the player, sometimes says that another programme is accessing the player (when nothing is), the times sonicstage reads the discs contents, I can't delete or add files/folders without an access error message coming up, and if I try deleting files/folders through the player itself, a busy message pops up, the player makes a spinning/searching sound and stays like that for a looooong time (not too sure how long as I get bored waiting).

I'm frustrated with this as I think the player is fantastic when it works, I'm a music addict, and I need this thing to work properly again! Any suggestions on what I can do, please?
