AkiraSP
Hello everyone! This is my first post here. I have bought a car audio cdx-f7717x recently and learned that atrac3plus would be the best option for great sound quality and compression.I have tried to burn my first atrac cd, but SonicStage does not even list my cd writer in the drop down... in fact, I can't see the drop down. When I click on Transfer > Create an ATRAC CD, it says Device/Media not connected.I have no idea how to proceed.I am running on the latest Sonic Stage 3.4; it is installed on Windows XP Pro SP2, and my cd writer is external and connected to my pc via USB.Please let me know if there is anyway to fix this problem or workaround of it? Is there any other option to write an ATRAC CD without using SonicStage, for example using Nero and creating a certain folder structures so that my car audio can recognize the atrac files in there? I am asking this because I tried to just burn a CD with the ATRAC files in the CD as I regular do with MP3 files, but the car cd says no music or no files, I am certain about the message. Please help! Thanks! AkiraSP
Hi Stuge! Thanks for your quick response! My external cd writer is LG Super Multi DVD drive model GSA-4167B ROM ver DL12. It seems the firmware is quite new as it is written is was made on Nov 2005.My suspicion is on SS as Nero and other burning software can successfully recognize my unit.Do you still believe it is worth searching for a newer firmware for my unit? (if there is a newer one...)Thanks!
AkiraSP
Just updated the firmware of my cd writer. It is now running on the latest DL13, but SS is still not recognizing my cd writer.Any other suggestions? Thanks!
Guest Stuge
You can look for the firmware but i don`t think you will be able to find any new firmware ...If it still unable to recognize your Cd-writer i will suggest you to reinstall SS ver3.4 again (Also delete these registries HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sony Corporation\SonicStagebut becarefull while deleting thse registrie`s
AkiraSP
Hi Stuge! Thanks again. The firmware I am running is the latest. Just confirmed it here:http://us.lgservice.com/index_b2c.jsp -> DVD-ROM Writer -> New firmware (ver. DL13) for only GSA-4167B(Internal 16X Super multi DVD Writer)You may find it strange, but my cd writer (in fact a dvd writer too) is housed in an external box which a bought for this purpose. The writer is a regular internal IDE one.I will try your suggestion by uninstalling SS and deleting the registry data you mentioned. Thanks! AkiraSP
Hi Stuge,Unfortunately your suggestion did not work.As I previously posted, SS is not detecting my external cd writer. Is there a fix or newer files? I believe the DLLs responsible for the cd unit detection are the following. Directory of C:\Program Files\Common Files\Sony Shared\AVLib\CdrSS2006/02/22 19:36 <DIR> .2006/02/22 19:36 <DIR> ..2005/09/27 06:09 163,840 CdrHelperSS.dll2005/09/27 06:12 360,448 OpdCdrSS.dll2005/05/05 13:54 159,744 primosdk.DLL2005/09/27 06:07 299,008 PrimoWriterSS.dll2005/09/27 06:10 114,688 SonyCDDetectSS.dll2005/09/27 06:08 135,168 SonyCDWriterSS.dll 6 File(s) 1,232,896 bytes 2 Dir(s) 480,512,000 bytes freeAny ideas? Thanks! Guest Stuge
Unfortunately I don`t have any idea about this .Only thing i know is .dll are important files used to tranfer command .Right only possible thing that come`s to my mind is that Your Cd-writer is not compatible with SonicStage .Is it possible to use your cd-writer on some other computer ?Then see if SonicStage detects or not
The R-W!N8r
I had the same problem as you have. You need to update your PX engine, as far as I know it is a programm that is responsible for communication between programms and your CD-writer. Searching the internet you should be able to find it, unfortunatly I can't remember where I got it from. AkiraSP
Hi Stuge,I don't remind the exact message, but when I try to transfer the files to create an Atrac CD, it fails.I have tried with MP3 and then it worked. Of course it first converts the file and then write the CD as Atrac. When the files are already in Atrac format, it fails. It should recognize the file doesn't need to be converted and then only transfer the file to the CD.I have already tried to set as basic mode? or simple mode? but it seems SS tries to convert the files anyway, and fails.Any ideas? Thanks
Guest Stuge
Hi ,I will suggesT you to Rip a cd in specific bit rate in Atrac like 48kpbs ,64,66kpbs,105kpbs , 132kpbs ..256kpbs..only .then iN Atrac writing settings select "SPECIFIED BIT RATE TRANFER MODE " then select the bit rate you choose used to rip cd Note :NEW BIT RATES LIKE 128KPBS,160KPBS ,192KPBS ,320KPBS ,352KPBS are not compatible with our CD players .So SonicStage will not allow to rip these it will convert them to default bit rate (i.e 64kpbs ).Also If possible try to tell us what error message you get ..
