jernikfra
Ever since i got my Onkyo XB-8(W) last month I've been on a quest to find a small matching sub woofer to hook up to it's sub pre-out. The most important factor was finding one that had a glossy white finish to match the speakers. I've browsed the websites of every speaker manufacturer that i could think of, and had found lots of great subs, but most were way overkill for a micro system and hardly any were in glossy white, until yesterday, when one of the sales reps at my store told me he just started to rep Monitor Audio and they had exactly what I was looking for. For those of you who have an Onkyo XB-8(, they also have it available in glossy black! Incidentally, looks like the two and a half year run of the XB-8 is over. It is no longer on Onkyo's website. What a shame. They only show the two models they released earlier this month. Here's the link to the Monitor Audio R360 Sub woofer available in 5 finishes, including glossy white and glossy black. http://www.monitoraudio.co.uk/product.php?...t=30&area=
alexis
My experience with the XB8 is that it has too much bass already. My setting is BASS -6db, no subwoofer - only so it sounds halfway natural. Furthermore, I already tried a Yamaha subwoofer on it, just to realize that the frequency/volume response was not well balanced between the XB8 speakers and the subwoofer. Sounded like two distinct sound sources.Maybe there is something I miss in the XB8 sound settings, but I would not recommend the use of a subwoofer which is not precisely matched to the XB8 frequency curve. At least, do not spend lots of money on it.
