quadnut
Hi Everyone,I want to transfer all my MD's to my computer and convert them over to MP3's. I got my hands on an RH1, but have not installed any version of SonicStage yet. A440 mentioned I should use SS 4.2 or 3.4 (thanks A440), but I noticed that 4.3 is the newest version. I'm guessing there's some reason not to use 4.3, and so I should go with 4.2, but thought I'd double check in here before installing anything. I'm running XP with SP2 on my PC. The RH1 came with a CD containing SS 3.4 so I have that available.I haven't installed any version on SonicStage yet, which one should I use? KJ_Palmer
SS 4.3 is the'Vista' version of Sonicstage. Not sure if it will install/work with XP, but it doesn't add anything new, and doesn't support MD Simpleburner. So 4.2 is probably best for you... Is there any advantage to using an older version like 3.4 vs 4.2?
KJ_Palmer
Not that I know of, though perhaps 3.4 might perform better on a low-spec machine, I suppose. I installed SS 3.4 first from the RH1 disk, then 4.2 over that, so that should cover all the bases. raintheory
Features in 4.2 that are absent in 3.4:- Importing and playing back in HE-AAC format is available.- Format support: *.3gp- Ripping Audio CD in HE-AAC format is available.- Bit rates for HE-AAC; 96kbps/80kbps/64kbps/48kbps/40kbps- DSEE (Digital Sound Enhancement Engine) function is available. DSEE is a high-frequency completion technology developed by Sony that improves the quality of compressed audio and adds back in high frequencies that are often lost when audio is compressed. The resulting audio is closer to the original, more natural, and offers a wider sense of space.I'm running XP and tried 4.3, big headache and problems with uploading. I'd stick with 4.2 as the highest version unless yr running Vista.
