I've been having trouble with Sonicstage (I hear this isn't unusual). When I install it, my DVD drive vanishes from My Computer, and in device manager I get "Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware. (Code 37)" Has anyone encountered this before and perhaps know of a fix? Couldn't find anything similar reported on Google.

Downloaded the latest version of Sonicstage and am using Vista Home Premium.

Since it's Vista, are you absolutely sure you're using SonicStage 4.3 ? It's the only one that's supposed to work with Vista.

Does the DVD drive return if you uninstall SonicStage?

If you do ascertain that the problem is SonicStage--and nothing would surprise me about the ill effects of two programs as trouble-prone as SonicStage and Vista--you should contact Sony support. You might also contact your hardware manufacturer, since it could be something particular to that computer or DVD drive.

It is definititely SonicStage CP ver. 4.3 - I have the CD in front of me. It mentions Vista on the disc. I also tried downloading the newest version from Sony's website and got the same result. The DVD drive is working until I install SonicStage and reboot. Once it's rebooted, the CD drive doesn't work. If I roll back Windows to just before I installed Sonicstage, DVD drive works again. Really bizarre :)

For now I've installed on my XP-running laptop without any problem, so it's not the end of the world.
