Question

hey all.

first time posting.

(before anyone says anything, i've spent the past hour reading all 15 pages of this forum/ search function, and couldnt resolve my problem.)

i got a new NW-A3000 for christmas, and everythings been perfect up until about 4 hours ago. i began to put new songs onto the player and everything was fine. then upon going back in to put on another song that i had forgotten, Connect tried loading my A3000 but never reached past 0%. all i got was ''Do not disconnect, loading data 0%'' after 20 mins, i did disconnect and tried again to no avail.

when i went through my player, i found everything was fucked up beyond belief: in 'Artists' i found all the albums, in 'Genre' i found all the albums, in 'Release Date' i found all the albums, in 'Albums' i found all the albums'... etc. also there were now hundreds of playlists, one for every album, a 'trash bin' symbol beside every song, no songs in ''Favourite 100'' or ''Play History'' [insufficient Information. Connect complient software and transfer information].

jesus christ

i uninstalled it, and installed it again (an updated version at that). at this point, it wasnt showing up on screen at all. before it was showing up in grey italics, never loading fully, but now its nowhere to be seen. i even tried resetting it, and updating firmware.... nothing seems to work.. and ive rebooted and restarted my computer, tried different usb ports more times than i can remember,

Please, please please if anyone knows how i can fix this, do tell..

any replies would be much appreciated.. thanks

uninstall connect.

initialise the disk of the unit itself from its options menu.

install sonic stage 3.4 and import your library into it.

connect the a3000 and let it sync.

all your music back on the player, problem solved :)

trust me, once you start getting problems with connect, there is no solution.....

i had the same thing man, connect worked fine the FIRST time i sued it, and ONLY the first time.....if you go back to add mroe music it messes up and goes mental. itll never be the same again, no matter how many times you uninstall or reinstall....even if you completely remove all traces of teh software from your pc......

welcome to the fabulous world of sonic stage.

you will lose the advanced features of the player, like artist link, but this software is far more stable and reliable i find :)

exactly...

if you really need the extra features like artist link, top 100, etc etc.....APPARENTLY, if you use sonicstage to do all the transfers, then close ss, open connect player, it will sync all the artist link info......

this is what im sure soemone else has written here..........however i cant even get connect player to load up properly anymore, so im not risking it, but you could always give it a go.....worst comes to worst, it doesnt work, maybe youll hjave to retransfer using sonicstage......

But if you do that, you could end up SS cannot transfer any more songs onto the device unless you initialise it, at least that's what I experienced.

ok guys, a good result finally.

anyone who has this problem, i have an answer.

after sifting through the pages and pages of atraclife's (great) forums, i decided to firstly uninstall/ reinstall connect via this very helpful FAQ:

CONNECT Player has become very unstable and I would like to reinstall it.

1) If the database is corrupted during transfer and CONNECT Player becomes unusable, it is advisable to uninstall and reinstall the software with the add/remove program function in the Control Panel. Make sure that the database is deleted as well:

Go to the Windows Explorer, and make sure to make hidden files visible (go to the Tools on the menu and click the Folder Options, then on the View tab, select the Show hidden files and folder.)

Browse to C:\Document and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sony Corporation\CONNECT Player\Library and delete all the files located in this folder.

2) Reinstall the CONNECT Player software:

Make sure that your default Web browser is Internet Explorer. Other browsers (Netscape, Firefox...) are not supported and may lead to malfunctions or the impossibility to install the software.

If you install the bundled software, immediately install the update.

After downloading the CONNECT Player and before installing the update, make sure that you close all the tasks, especially SonicStage, anti-virus software, spy/malware removers, etc.

Make sure that you have downloaded and installed the latest CONNECT Player version available here.

To check the version, click Help, and then click About CONNECT Player. The version will appear in a new window.

Importing a large amount of music may take up to 4 or 5 hours. When launching the CONNECT Player for the first time, make sure you follow the CDDB (Gracenote) onscreen procedure. Otherwise, your audio CD's may not be detected.

then, unfortunately, i had to ''initailise the disk'' on my player, deleting every song. *sigh*.

after all this, and a number of restarts/reboots, i went into CP, fingers crossed, and IT WORKED!! it finally recognised my player, and got to 100%..

now ahead lies the task of putting all the songs back on.. *boo*

also i switched to another USB port, dunno if that had anything to do with it, but it installed the player perfectly.

Connect is still the worst software i've ever come across, but i certainly wasn't losing half of the fuctions of this player, that makes it what it is.. why should i? after shelling out 300euro..

anyways, hopefully it wont ever happen again.

thanks to anyone who helped, in this post, or outside..

awesome man.

this didnt work for me when i tried it a while back.....although admittedly i didnt try usign a different usb port...hmmm.

anyways, i dont really use the srtist link funtion or top 100 or anything like that.

i tend to know what i want and when i want it, so i just browse by artist to fidn the album im after.....

so ill prolly still stick to sonicstage.

but glad you sorted it :)
