SS 3.4 install problem

I have failed to load SS 3.0 (from CD) and 3.4 (from Sony) on 5 separate attempts. Once the install is completed (without error messages) I re-start and there is just no SS.

I under the start button there is programs>SonicStage but in this folder only an internet link to "product support - personal audio"

In the program folder c:\program files\ there are no Sony or SonicStage folders or programs or anything which looks like an install.

I have been to Microsoft windows update and verified that my XP is fully up-to date

Any suggestions?

XP Home 2002 SP2

Acer Aspire 1313 with AMD Athlon XP2200+ Processor. 7.95 GB free space on my HDD. USB not sure!
