cooky46
HiI am not sure if this is the correct forumto post to so apologies in advance. I currently own a Sony Walkman MZ-N710. I only use this sometimes when clubs I perform in use mini discs and do not want me to bring my own kit( I use a hard drive with usb and mixer.)Until recently all was well but the last couple of times when i have got to a venue the minidisc has not played in their players but could be played when my player was hooked up with the disc inside. I think that it is something to do with the transfer mode and the clubs players not supporting. I am at a loss at how to change this to how it was originally when I had no problem. Should I be using Standard transfer mode, Stereo transfer mode or what ? Please help. Also I recorded a disc in LP4 mode and now ehn I try to change back to a normail mode, the disc sqeaks. I seem to have doubled up the speed on the discs.Any help gratefully recieved ThanksCooky
KJ_Palmer
Sounds like (pardon the pun) the clubs' MD players aren't MDLP compatible. In that case you should use the SP compatibility mode (I think that's what it's called) under the transfer mode settings (the black 'suitcase' icon) in the middle of the Sonicstage screen, and all will, hopefully be well.. However, that transfer method is slow, and results in no better than LP2 quality, so you might as well do the transfer in real time via an optical (or analogue) cable in Stereo mode and get much better quality. Hope that helps. Edited February 26, 2009 by Barock
cooky46
Hi Thanks for the input - with you help I think that I may have it right - I have changed the settings on the actual player to SP and then set the transfer to SP on the NET MDwhen the music has been imported the software shows - Codec as ATRAC and Recoeding Mode Stereo - could this be right ?The only thing I am concerned about is that it is showing that I have 162.5 mb left on the disc but the time is showing as 77.45 mins which is about right . When the disk is played in the mini disk machine It is not showing LP2 any more but is not showing anything ?Thanks for your help in advance.I have uploaded a word document to show my settingsCookySonic_Stage_pics.doc
KJ_Palmer
I think that should be all right - many MD players don't display SP (as opposed to LP2/4) as this is as a sort of default playback/recording mode. As long as it's playing back properly in the machine this should be fine.
