Initialise HD5 without power lead?

Hi, I've run into the Sonic Stage upgrade problem and need to initialise my HD5. When I try to do this from the unit it asks me to plug in the powersupply. I dont have the power supply, i cant remember if it shipped with one (can anyone tell me?) but dont seem to have it.

Is there a way to initialise without plugging it in? If not i might have to make a 6v PSU

Are trying to format your unit when it is connected to PC via USB???

I'm trying to initialise with it unplugged completely, I dont think I can do any functions while its connected by USB can I? It usually just displays a connected screen only.

I'd have to initialise it to do the firmware update and to get it working on SS again.

ok , ..It never asks me to do that ..

try to format your (players hard disk with adapter ..(you can use you player with it but not with usb on )

adapter that came with your HD5..i mean power adapter with GREEN label on it .

as in the AC adapter as opposed to the USB adapter.
