Question

They claim neither SonicStage or Connect Player support M3U playlists!!! See email below.. Sony UK support is a total shambles... I really expect more from Sony, but unfortunatly, they are not delivering. :-(

However we do believe that a version of SonicStage will be released at the end of May that will include this feature. This will be available to download from our website, however will not be available as a CD-ROM.

My Reply

Sorry to inform you, both SonicStage and Connect Player allow the import of M3U playlists. Your very own documentation says so:

http://support.sony-europe.com/DNA/hotnews...n&f=ConSon_comp

I am totally sick of support departments that are less informed about their products than the end users..

Dear Mr Gillespie

Thank you for your recent enquiry.

I am very sorry for the confusion. I unfortunately was informed that our SonicStage and Connect Player did not support these playlists. This is the reason I replied to your enquiry as I did. Due to the current problems we have had with our Connect Player, a lot of information is being given to us, and it seems in the confusion I was wrongfully informed.

I can only offer you an apology for the confusion.

Finally, if you need to reply to this e-mail, please quote reference xxxxxxxxxxxxxin the subject field of your e-mail.

With Regards

Ben Cicchetti

Yep, I've had the misfortune of talking to Sony UK in the past. I was stupid enough to buy a Sony XDR-S1 and had a couple of problems with it: Stuttering and drop-outs on lower bitrate stations (I say lower because all stations on DAB have a low bitrate) and text being chopped off on the radio text (I have excellent reception btw). The guy on the phone didn't believe me and just said that there was nothing about it on their internal forums, so I was obviously wrong  . Not to mention the time it took to actually get hold of them. His excuse was that 'it only displays what the broadcasters transmit, so apparently it's not their problem).

Best customer support I've had was with Nintendo UK, I got an answer almost straight away when I phoned them, the guy on the phone asked me to wait and I only had to wait about 20 seconds :D , and he was very helpful as well, unlike Sony UK.

Then why even both employing them. Close the useless callcentres, sell me cheaper gear, and let me rely on more reliable end user - end user support.

Good point man ,but not everyone in the call centre is a fool ,Like the one you got

I remember some years ago i sent an email to Philips Malaysia asking them if this PCDP i was interested in had digital/optical line out. Her reply went along the lines of the player not being able to support any forms of downloads as it was just capable of playing audio cds

totally out of context, out of anything but utter stupidity

I sent her another email saying my question had nothing to do with her reply and she sent one back asking me to call and explain to her what i meant by digital/optical line out. sigh..shes working in an electronics firm where she could easily ask any of her work mates and such....pride makes idiots and vice versa
