SonicStage Music Organization?

I have a Sony 20GB MP3 Player (NW-HD1) that works with SonicStage (meaning all mp3 files are converted to attrac format and then transferred to my player).

My only concern, is how to organize my music.

All my songs on my computer are organized in folders according to either the Music Genre (ie. Pop, Rap, etc.) or Artist (ie. Madonna, Elvis, etc.).

When I move them to the MP3 player they get changed into their own category, artist, etc.. according to what is programmed into the song's info.

They get really specific and the same artists are found in different categories.

I don't want this.

I want my songs to stay in the folders I PUT THEM INTO.

How do I do this?

I hope I'm making sense.

Thanks,

Marco

Looks like you want folder-based browsing instead of ID3 based browsing. You cannot do that with the HD1 since Sonicstage controls how the music is stored. iPods are worse, since iTunes will change all the filenames into garbage and put tracks in random folders. Get an iAudio X5 instead.

Thanks for the help.

Are there any programs out there that will allow me to change the ID3 tags of a group of files, instead of doing it one at a time? That would save me a lot of time and stress...

For example.

Is there a program in which I can highlight 20 songs from Madonna on my hard drive, and change the Genre for it to 'Pop', instead of doing it one-by-one?

Thanks,

Marco

SonicStage actually allows you to change what you want. Just select the tracks you want to edit, right click and select properties, and there you can write as you like. But there are better programs to do this. My recommendation is Tag & Rename, which has a 30-day trial period. It's very easy to use.
