Sony DAP Line out being too loud

Question

Before i start here's my following setup:

Sennheiser HD650

Sony NW-A1000

Electric Avenues PA2V2 (amp)

If i want to properly use an amp, i should use line out correct? However if i use line out to my amp, the volume becomes tooo strong and loud. Is this me or do all DAPs out there has similar issues? How should i solve my problem? I'm currently using headphone out with ALVS feature enabled and volume at 13. This way i get to listen to my songs at a softer and better volume level, but i'm not utilising the external amp at all :(.

Has this got to do with the high gains and small pot of the amp itself or the nw-a1000 itself?

Huh? You use an amp, so of course it's going to be louder. That's the whole point. Also, I don't understand why you use AVLS in the first place if you don't like the loud volume. Just lower the actual volume (maybe about 5 - 8).

Actually, the volume and AVLS settings should be inoperable (onm the A1000) when using line out mode. Have you definitely got Line Out set in the Audio out menu?

You should use the volume control on the amp rather than the A1000. In fact in line out mode the A1000 produces a much lower signal than Hi-Fi stereo components, so your amp should be more than able to cope with it.

i'm did everything you mentioned before i posted this topic. :)

Seems that the signal simply is too strong, a slight twist on the volume knob on my amp will result high volumes which i couldnt bear.

Any ideas?

Hm, well, you must have a very sensitive amp then. So I guess you should forget line out, turn the sound on the A3000 to normal (instead of Equaliser) and set the volume to something low like 5-10 for example...

Ah, but this means i cannot bypass the internal amp correct? This also means i'm not actually using the external amp at all. Can someone confirm this?

Again, thank you for your kind and warm replies guys. :)

Well, you will indeed be using the internal amp (=headphone out) if line out isn't set. The external amp is also being used - if you set Sound in the menu on the unit to 'None' this will cancel any equaliser effects which are usually unwanted in this type of setup.
